This is your introduction to SCUBA diving.
In this session you will be given an explanation of the scuba equipment and how it works. By the end of this overview, you will be familiar with the Self-Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus (SCUBA) and the principles of its use. You will also be familiar with the techniques used to clear your ears and sinuses. When the instructor is assured that you understand these few basic principles, you proceed together to the pool session. Here you get practical, hands-on experience using the equipment. All required skills will be introduced in water shallow enough to stand, so that you only have to lift your head to ask questions.
Once you are breathing comfortably, the instructor will proceed with skills such as clearing water from the regulator and face mask. All required skills completed, you will venture into water over your head. Here you practice equalizing increasing pressures as you head for the deep end of the pool. Now you are able to relax and enjoy floating freely, weightlessly, silently, hearing only your own breathing, and ready yourself to begin the exciting sport of scuba diving while you contemplate your exploration of the underwater world.
